Happy Easter!

We had a blast this Easter cause Colin was able to really be involved and participate! We dyed eggs, he got 2 Easter baskets mostly filled with books, bubbles and chalk, we went to church, I spent the afternoon slaving over lasagna and meatballs from scratch for our Italian Easter with my folks while Colin napped and after dinner we had an egg hunt. The egg hunt was by far Colin's favorite activity! The kid loved looking for the eggs! We hid and re-hid them a dozen times! I am already looking forward to next year, holidays are much more fun with children! Hope you all had a blessed day!

Hiking fun!

My brother in law visited us for a week during his spring break and I took advantage of his trip as a way to finally do some hiking and exploring in our new area!

There are some interesting, vast landscapes nearby. Old river beds and ocean floors that are now dried up into crazy sandstone formations. It is cool stuff and makes you feel like you are walking around on another planet!

This was the first time I had taken Colin out hiking, where he was also hiking. The first trip he was a wild man an just ran and ran. The second one he was much more subdued, but we also had our dog and my broth in laws dog with us, so I think he was More distracted. He hiked a lot and probably hiked over a mile yesterday on one of our excursions.... No he didn't sleep through the night with all that activity... I was hoping! Lol. But we had a blast and I love that my kid likes being outdoors as much as his ex-park ranger mom does!

Pinterest-aholic

I have become ADDICTED to Pinterest. Like I totally have problem. Lol. I was pretty late in the Pinterest game and didn't really start using it until i started planning Colin's first birthday party. Since then... Well they got me.

I pinned a lot while we were in the hotel.... Mostly recipes. Then when we got to our house I couldn't wait to start cooking. Every night since we've been here I've cooked Pinterest recipes. Yesterday I tried to remember what I cooked before... And I came up with nothing! Lol Did I not have a life before Pinterest?

So tonight I think we had my favorite so far :

Pasta with avocado sauce... This Italian girl totally approved! My parents are coming this weekend and I will be making a gluten free form if this again! I added chicken and zucchini to it just for some protein and extra veggies. Isn't it beautiful?!

Reading Nook

Colin's new closet is HUGE and right now his clothes and things are so tiny, so he hardly fills it up. Ever since we moved in I had a grand plan to turn his closet into a reading nook. I went looking for bean bags the other day and thought they we too pricey. I got to thinking and Colin literally got tons of blankets before and after he was born, way more than I could ever use. They were all stuffed in a closet, just taking up space, so I thought I'd put them to good use. This is what i came up with today:

Someday I'd like to put some cute book shelves on his closet wall, but for now his book shelf is right outside his closet.

Organizing life, one closet at a time!

Before we moved I decided I would be more organized when we moved into our new place. Trust me when I say, this was a far stretch for me. I started before we moved, bought several bins and started putting toiletries in them and some of my kitchen things. I was pretty proud at the time, but that was nothing, compared to what I did when we got here! First place I started was my pantry. It is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen! Ha, ok, next to my kid!

I bought some containers before we moved and while we were in house limbo... Looking back I wish I would have gotten everything the same so they all matched, but I can in time... And you got to start somewhere.

So without further delay I present to you my kitchen pantry.... Isn't it a thing of beauty?

Side note: I have another storage area in the laundry room that I have baskets with canned goods and boxes/mixes of things. That area I am still working on because it is also housing my cleaning supplies and big appliances, but once I get it all finished I will share! :)

Bathroom from green to grey

Today was a busy day of painting the spare bathroom. For the record I suck at painting and feel like my right arm may fall off, but our spare bathroom is no longer sherbet green!

I was so excited to paint my bathroom grey. I had picked up a nice light grey color and thought it was just perfect...l until I started painting it and then I realized it looked purple and I had a minor heart attack. I then decided that anything was better than neon green so I continued. I am happy with the end result, but still a little bugged that there is a purple tint to it! Not purple when I picked it out, in the can or on the brush.... But purple on the wall... Probably the neon greens fault! Lol

Regardless I am not painting over it anytime soon so I am stuck with it!

Here are some before and after shots!

Bathroom redo

This weekend my spare bathroom is getting the makeover of its life and I am sooo excited! Lol. This bathroom is currently sherbet green. That is the by way I can describe it. It is horrendous.

I had been looking on Pinterest for bathroom wall colors for awhile now. At first I liked gray and then I was in love with a Dark green.  The other night I was giving Colin a bath and I had an epiphany about the color and knew it had to be gray.

Well today I went and bought gray paint... And then went to target to see what colors they I had for me to accent it with. I was leaning towards baby blue and gray, but then I went into target and fell madly in love with this this turquoise bathroom set.... And now I cannot wait to paint it and set it up. I would have done it today if Colin hadn't been on a nap strike! Lol

I have most of the room taped off and once my husbands weekend starts, my project begins!  Don't worry I took before pictures today so I can share in all its glory! Lol

Finally, we have a home!

Well, we closed on our new house last Friday and I've been busy going through boxes and packaging paper ever since!

It feels so wonderful to have our own space and things again! The first night we were here Colin spent literally hours just sitting on the floor going through his toy box, he hadn't seen his toys in 5 weeks and he really missed them! (My kid never sits and quietly plays for more than a few minutes at a time, he is far too busy!)

I have quite a few projects to do besides organizing the house.... The spare bathroom is like a sherbet green color... And needs to go, like yesterday! The spare bedroom is pink and purple and will be changed as well.

I am also having a pickle about hanging pictures, I just don't know how to hang them and which ones to put up. Our old house had a ton of shelves and I filled them with pictures, here I just have walls to fill up and hanging pictures up on a wall is much more daunting for me.... I will post more about our new house, my organizing and room redos soon. Until then, here is our new home:

Making Changes

So I will admit I was a totally addicted to online shopping. Literally I would get packages in the mail and have NO IDEA what they were. It was THAT bad.

We've been homeless now for 4 weeks... going on 5... and because of that I don't have an address to send things to, there for I cannot online shop. A blessing in disguise! LolI have officially not bought anything online in over 5 weeks.

How did I get so bad. Well... you buy something and then attach your email to it, where you get emails with discounts and such. I was literally getting over 10 emails a day, just on online deals. I was a total sucker for those deals. I still kept looking at them, even though I couldn't buy, but the last few days I did something drastic... I clicked on them all and then clicked.... UNSUBSCRIBE.   Why?  Because  I don't need half the stuff I buy. Plus, I am not working anymore and need to find ways to save and I think, sad to say... that will be one place I will start.

I've bought a lot of clothes in person, since we literally only had packed enough for about 3 days... but everything I've bought has been on clearance. Yesterday I went to the mall and they were having a 2.99 sale at a store... and that was the only thing I bought, 2 shirts for 2.99. I am going to become a bargain shopper in person instead of perusing the Internets for deals... that probably aren't even really that good of a deal! Lol... Yup... I'm a sucker no more!
