Shaving cream fun!

I have been trying to come up with fun things for us to do in the hotel when it is too cold out to play outside. I bought bubbles, toddler markers (that only write on special paper, genius!), and shaving cream. The favorite by far is shaving cream! When I was in high school I used to help teach a preschool class of 3 and 4 year olds and shaving cream was a huge hit with them, glad Colin likes it to. Best of all it only cost $1.27!! Gotta love cheap entertainment!

This morning we got dressed for the pool only to go downstairs to find the pool was closed for maintenance. Lame! So instead we had fun with shaving cream in the tub. Colin decided to paint his legs today! Ha!

I guess it really tired him out because after we rinsed off and got dressed he passed out for his first morning nap in weeks!

Hotel Fun!

We've been back at the hotel since Friday... not long at all considering we will be here for 2 weeks, but I already have a list of things to share:

*  Ninja code: House keeping will knock on your door minutes after you get the baby to take a nap.

*  Why do they make the emergency buttons in the elevator kid height?? Colin may or may not have pressed the button for emergencies several times. What do you do?? I run out of the elevator as fast as possible!! Lol

* Your husband takes the baby and lets you take a nap... JUST as the lady wearing high heels checks into her room upstairs above you and paces the room...

*  Everyone is asleep and you are about to fade into dreamland as well... when the kids down the hall decide to run down the hall to the pool as fast as possible, yelling and cheering as they go, of course.

I am sure I can add to this through the weeks... until then. Time to pace the hall while we wait for Daddy to come home from work... and avoid the elevators!

Where are we?

Sorry I haven't written in forever, we have been visiting family to get away from the hotel for a few weeks and my parents live in the sticks and have horrendous Internet. Right now I am visiting Ryan's dad, stepmom and sisters in Dallas. The weather is warm and glorious (it was snowing when we left NM!) and Colin has gone to the park several times a day here and is thoroughly enjoying pestering his Aunts!

So basically this is where we are in our house hunt: It looks like the other house we put an offer on will be ours. Although we are incredibly nervous about it until it actually closes, considering the last one fell through on that day. We had some tribulations with this one as well, mostly around the price and have basically settled into paying much more than we had hoped to pay... Isn't that how it goes? Lol BUT there are soo many things we like more about this house than the other.... For example, a bigger garage that our cars actually fit in, storage off the garage, not one, but two sheds outside, a nicer backyard that backs up to nothing (the other house backed up to another neighbor), radiant heating, bigger bedrooms and that is just what pops in my head.

We are scheduled to close In March so we still have a few more weeks of hotel living after we finish visiting our family. But I think we will survive. Will share more on our house when it is officially ours!

My family.

We may not have a house right now or any of our stuff... But at least we have each other and that is really all that matters! <3

Sometimes Life Throws You Lemons

Yesterday was quite a day.

Our house was packed the day before and was to be loaded in a moving truck. We left before the movers arrived with three vehicles a sick baby, our dog and enough clothes to last us through the weekend to go close on our new house. The movers were supposed to deliver all of our things on Monday.

While we were driving my husband called me and said he got a bunch of phone calls and something went wrong and we can't close. Apparently the owners hadn't paid their mortgage since may... May! Yet nobody knew this... And the house is going into foreclosure.... UNLESS the sellers bring 7,000 dollars to the closing, which then got postponed til Monday. Talk about a lot of info to digest. I cried all the way to our new town!

Back story on this house is... We have had a hell of a time trying to get it. We saw it, loved it and the neighborhood it is in and have been pursuing it ever since.... But nothing about it has been easy. We had 6 counters with the owners and all kinds of minor things happen to give us headaches one after the next. Finally after yesterday I think we both thought maybe it just isn't worth fighting for anymore, we aren't supposed to have this house and all these issues are signs that it isn't meant to be. As much as we loved it.

Today we found out the owners did not have any money to bring to the table for the closing. I am not sure what they were expecting, but I guess that is why we countered so many times with them... They didn't want to go any lower on the house price because they needed to make the money that they owed on the house.

So today we signed a termination form and started our house hunting all over again. Fortunately there were a lot of houses in our price range here so we had a lot of nice options. We ended up falling in love with another house in the very same neighborhood as the other house we were going to buy. We put an offer on that one today... Fingers crossed this process is smoother for us and we get our home soon.

Sometimes when life throws you lemons ... You make lemon aid.. Or like us, have a stiff drink, sleep on it and then move on! Lol
